Joseph Douglass provides a learning environment that contributes to the holistic development of all students by use of literacy programming, academics, behavior modification and character/social skills development. This collaborative effort between parents, students and staff will help students transition to a successful future. We teach students who are having difficulty in school how to succeed and that failure is not an option. Students are taught to be productive contributors to family, community and school. All understand that, “Attitude determines Altitude!” Student learning with high expectations in conjunction with social competence is paramount in the student's development and success.
Our Mission...
The mission of Joseph Douglass School is to provide students who have had difficulty in the traditional school setting an opportunity for success through personalized programs. We help students achieve success and realize their full potential.
What is Alternative Placement?
Alternative placements are intended to be short term educational placements for students who violate the Christina School District Student Code of Conduct and for those students returning from placement in an Outside Agency
Distance Learning Education Program
The Christina School District offers a unique Distance Education Program to high school students who are precluded from attending the comprehensive school. This may include students who are alternatively placed, expelled or transitioning back into public education from our Outside Agency.
The Distance Education Program enables students to access and complete core curriculum courses required for high school graduation. This web-based program utilizes instructional technology to promote accelerated mastery of concepts and credit retrieval. Learning is accelerated by individualized computer assisted instruction.
